REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Go PaperlessWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Mary Eickemeyer 4/20/2018 10:46 AMI love to have the chance to go on hikes in different parts of the state and United States. I am looking forward to adding more opportunities to see the Great Outdoors in the USA! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Mary Eickemeyer 4/14/2018 6:55 PMThe food waste diary is a fantastic idea! It has made me more aware of what I am eating and what I am buying. I would rather use the money to visit friends or go hiking or take care of my aging pet. It is nice to have less stress in the food dept. Also, having a smaller frig makes a big difference. I can only put a certain number of items in it and I have to be very aware of what I am buying and how much. It has worked out well. -
Mary Eickemeyer 4/14/2018 6:41 PMI added a recycling container to my office that both my office mate and I use. It was very productive this week in keeping recyclables out of the regular trash. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More about Wave and Tidal EnergyWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? Were you surprised by the information you found?
Mary Eickemeyer 4/14/2018 6:38 PMI learned that wave and tidal energy research has been going on for a long time. I also learned that countries all over the world are working on ways to harness the ocean's massive energy to help mankind. I was surprised that a significant amount of power could be produced to help the USA as much of the USA is landlocked. -
Mary Eickemeyer 3/29/2018 8:04 AMI am excited to be a part of this challenge! Sustaining the earth and its creatures have always been an important part of my life. I remember playing on the beaches of the Pacific Ocean as a child and being mesmerized by the incredible sea creatures that would come and go with the waves. I love to hike and explore different parts of nature. Our earth is a valuable resource that is not to be wasted.
