I learned that family planning is not just a united states problem. I never thought about it this was as its empowering for women. They have the chance to plan their future outside of motherhood such as school, careers. For me we ran the numbers financially to see if we could afford a second child. Because that was always in our family planning. We took steps on family planning

What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

My city only shows you how to save water, fixing toilets, not water your grass as much. I think what needs to change is charge people a lot more for water, then they will use as much.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

I think that this false "food pyramid" that we are taught at a very young age for years and years. We need to update the amount of protein is needed for the human body. We also focus our meals around meat. I feel that we educate at a very young age that a meat base diet is not the answer, and hit them with facts

What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Ross Gaona's avatar
    Ross Gaona 4/19/2018 2:23 AM
My vision is people started to use less cars and walked to places, or had easier ways or modes of transportation. I would like for my city to stop growing and make our city more sustainable, and start investing in renewable energy

Climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe states that "The reason we care about climate change is because it affects the people and places that we care about." What is happening (or will happen) in your area that will affect the people and places you care about?

I can say its my family, I want them to have a future and not have to struggle. With my area is going to be my city of Hillsboro, since I have lived here for the past 6 years it has grown 30,000 people and they are planning for another 20,000 with in the next 3 years

Transport Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

For me is my family, I have two children and to find a car that has enough room. My wife drive the furthest to work so MPG would be nice. Right now we drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee  so it has plenty of room but not very good on gas. I found that the car that would possibly fit us would be the Toyota Camry. which would save us over 500 bucks a year on gas

From my research, there was not very many companies that have a volunteer base group.. A lot of what I found where small private business and Biomass was part of what their business offered
