Scott Hardin-Nieri 4/23/2018 3:09 PM- Annual Earth Day Vigil CCA welcomed people of all faiths on April 22 to First Baptist. The event was a celebration of creation and people and a call to action to care for it. The theme this year was “The Three Loves; Love of Neighbor, Creation, and Children.”
Words of reflection, blessings, and music were shared by leaders from 12 faith communities and 9 denominations/faiths including Rev. Kim Wells of New Hope Presbyterian Church, Rev. Tommy Bratton, Rabbi Rachael Jackson of Agudas Israel Congregation, Rev. Shannon Spencer of the Asheville Poverty Initiative, Daniel Suber, UNCA Student, Rev. Austin McIver Dennis of First Baptist Church, Vicki Garlock of Jubilee Community, Rev. Kevin Bates of Piney Mountain United Methodist Church, Tyrone Greenlee, of Christians for a United Community. Music was shared by the Spanish Mass Choir from St. Eugene Catholic Church and Lyndon Harris of Tigg’s Pond Retreat Center. Food was donated by the 12 Baskets Cafe. We shared some of the CCA Eco Challenge stats and celebrated our collective efforts and the work of Asheville High School! -
