It really fees refreshing to get back out on a bike! It turns out that my ride to work takes me down a trail, across a stone bridge, and through some amazing natural spaces. It was a far more relaxing way to get to work than fighting my way through the long lines of morning traffic!

I try and remain mindful of the fact that I make hundreds of decisions a day. Many of them have a less impactful effect on the world, and when possible, I try and do that. While I am not perfect, I can strive to do better today and learn how I can make less of an impact tomorrow.

A quick internet search showed that I could either buy a $5 bag, fill it with sand, and put it into my toilet tank, OR use a brick. I opted for the brick, as I have several of them lying around the house as door stops. Easy peasy!

I was intrigued to see the variety of generation options that are out there. Most fascinating was the chart showing both the potential for each type relative to their actual progress towards that. There is so much room for growth in this area. If only we could stop subsidizing the fossil fuel industry and put those investments into these new, alternative methods of generating electricity, we would see innovation at an incredible rate!

Kudos to both Cornell U. and Stanford U. as both of them are exploring the possibility of using deep, geo-thermal wells to get their campus energy. While an expensive up-front cost, the lifetime operating costs are so low it makes this a great alternative, with ZERO GHG emissions!
