REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Anna Mezheritskaya 4/16/2018 6:00 AMThe availability of cheap meat because of the industrial animal farming practices, which don't take the environmental impacts into the calculation. There is also a vast disconnect between consumers and the animals that we consume. I think if we are made more aware, even occasionally of where our meat cuts come from and how much is sold every day collectively, we may realize how taxing it is. Also, simply celebrating the beauty and deliciousness of vegetarian recipes would help. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smaller PortionsFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?
