There is a great need for family planning. In the developing world access to contraceptives leads to gender equality, women have more choices. I was surprised to learn that 45% of pregnancies in the US are unintended. That's a high number.

One of the most interesting things I learned  about are the offshore wind turbines. The Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of Norfolk, England. The wind farm consists of 88 Siemens 3.6 megawatt turbines placed over a 35-square kilometer area, 11 miles from shore. I have seen wind turbines on land here in California, but never thought about them over water.

What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

A whole lot would need to be done. Reducing water consumption both inside the home and out. Utilize composters. Having efficient electrical lighting and appliances. Eliminating junk mail.  Paperless billing. Eating greener and supporting local farms and local businesses. Greener forms of transportation. Having a local job match board to reduce commute time and allow for more walking and biking to work.

Things are going good, our recycle bin is getting full and our trash output has decreased.

As part of my two meatless meals a day, I have started making smoothies for breakfast with a protein drink blended with fruit. Very yummy and satiating.

We have set up any area in our home for recyclable’s and dispose of them daily in the recycle bin as provided by our carrier. I must say our actual trash does not need to go out as much.

It is easier than I thought to eat meatless meals twice a day. It helps to be prepared. This is something I could incorporate permanently.
