REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Sheila Ongie 4/21/2018 1:35 PMAs far as I can tell, by eating mostly unprocessed and vegetarian food, and local items when possible, I'm mostly able to avoid foods that are produced as a result of deforestation. Palm oil certified as RSPO is a step in the right direction, and you can argue that Palm Done Right (while not a certification) is even better. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Zero-waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

Sheila Ongie 4/17/2018 2:22 PMBeing out of town for the past week, it was hard to make my daily goal of zero-waste cooking because I didn't cook at all. However, our 1.5 gpm shower head arrived while we were gone, and we can't wait to give it a try. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Install a Low-Flow ShowerheadWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
Sheila Ongie 4/08/2018 11:00 AMThe new, lower-flow shower head is on order and will use just 1.5 gallons per minute rather than the current 2.5. This model has excellent reviews and ratings, so I can't wait to try it. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Sheila Ongie 4/04/2018 12:22 PMMy vision of a sustainable community includes decentralized power sources (and regulations that support decentralized power) and an emphasis on energy efficiency. -
