I committed to one meatless meal per day because I'm never really sure how many meals I'm going to eat in a day in total. But yesterday, I had the "normal" three-meals-a-day sort of day, and was meatless for all of them. I'm trying to do as many as possible, but didn't want to over-commit, I guess.

Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

We throw out a *lot* of food at my house. I buy too much, I cook too much, schedules change and we don't eat as many cooked meals as I planned, I forget stuff in the fridge exists and it goes bad, all sorts of things happen. It's definitely an area where I can improve. I'm pretty sure we're above average in this regard, but I'm going to start keeping some records to see. I would rather be spending that money on almost anything else, but right now I need to be pretty frugal, so I'm going to say that this is money I could be using to pay bills and reduce debt. (I'd really rather use it to travel, though!)

Just spent a quality few minutes removing my name from marketing mailing lists for the "Recycled Paper" challenge. I already get paperless billing and statements from almost all my utilities and banks and things, so I took this one a bit loosely. Next step: writing charities to ask them to solicit me by email instead.
