In art  class we made finger knit garlands and small pictures to hang from them to hang at a bus stop.  Hopefully they will bring additional cheer to commuters’ day.

Both at home and in our classroom, we have created a separate space to collect items that we can save from needing to be processed at a recycling plant.
We collect paper scraps that are usable for creating paper pulp and objects with interesting shapes or textures which can be used in other projects.  Our trash bin is going out much less frequently and contains only the truly gross and insanitary and our recycling bin has also consistently held far less.
We also have some great new materials to experiment with and view construction and creation in a different way.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Support Women-Owned Businesses
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women?

Last night I started researching women business owners in my community and reached out to friends on social media to recommend and promote female small business owners.
I’m grateful to live in a community that is aware of gender inequity and that works together to lift up both women and other minorities’ accomplishments and endeavors.
Over this month, I hope to grow even more conscious of the places I support, both financially and even just vocally.

I researched different types of art paper that I commonly use to identify comparable products that use post-consumer grade recycled paper.  I have added them to my amazon list so that the next time I need to purchase these items, I will be using the recycled versions.
