REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsGlobally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women?
Denise Connolly 4/20/2018 11:32 AMWhen we support women-owned businesses we not only help women today, we also help to empower young women to own and run businesses themselves. This kind of support helps to raise children from poverty and encourages upward mobility. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
Denise Connolly 4/17/2018 5:03 PMThe biggest hurdle women of my community face is unequal pay and lack of opportunity for employment. Women face greater hardship when seeking employment because they are more likely to have children to support as well as themselves making getting ahead that much harder. I feel that creating more access to high quality, safe preschool options not only benefits early child development and health, but also enhances the earning power and thereby the living standards of women. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow can you take your action a step further?
Denise Connolly 4/17/2018 4:53 PMIn our program we use recycled paper to create new paper for journals. By incorporating natural dyes such as blueberries and saffron, the kids can create some very nice looking paper.
