  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Try Carpooling
Take a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

A challenge in carpooling for me is I often have to give up some freedom. If I carpool somewhere, I loose complete autonomy over my schedule. However, I do recognize that sacrifices have to be made if we want to be part of the climate change solution.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?

Health- putting food on a smaller plate has made me do a better job ensuring the food is more of a balanced diet. As well as financial, I have to buy fewer groceries when I don't over serve at a meal.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

I was at an Climate Science event this week where there were no entree vegetarian options provided at dinner. Making vegetarian options available to all at events would be a start to the culture shift.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Support Women-Owned Businesses
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women?

Get educated! Many local shops don't advertise they are run by women. Don't be afraid to ask.

I should add extra insulation to my windows next winter.
