REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Bing Guerin 4/25/2018 2:33 PMEvery time it rains in San Diego the beaches are close for swimming. This has to do with run-off from the San Diego River and the Tijuana River. Actions to reduce these days include cleaning up river beds and preventing homeless encampments along the rivers. San Diego could also do a better job of housing homeless so they would not need to live in river watersheds. -
Bing Guerin 4/25/2018 2:29 PMThis has been a fun challenge. I wish I could have been able to log in every day!

REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesHow can you share what you have learned in your research with others?
Bing Guerin 4/24/2018 9:34 AMOne of the largest energy consumers in the US is the electric motor. Research shows that retrofitting industrial motors with higher efficiency motors would drastically reduce energy consumption. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Bing Guerin 4/24/2018 9:28 AMSan Diego could take another large step forward by implementing a municipal composting system. We could also make a big splash if the city allowed all food beyond sell by dates to be donated to homeless shelters and food banks. Leftover food could be composted and or used in a methane digester. -
Bing Guerin 4/24/2018 9:18 AMIt's getting close to the last day! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Bing Guerin 4/20/2018 4:58 PMI could do a better job looking for places to recycle plastic bags. This is the hardest thing in my home to get recycled. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
Bing Guerin 4/20/2018 4:54 PMIf water prices were higher in our area people would think twice about watering lawns. In our climate lawns waste incredible amounts of water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesWhy do you care about taking action on climate change?
