Chris Kane 4/24/2018 11:05 PMCongratulations and Thank You to Northwest Earth Institute for facilitating this challenge - it's been great fun and I know that I, for one, have earned a lot from this -
Chris Kane 4/23/2018 8:46 PMIt's hard for me to believe that this challenge is just about done; i have enjoyed it and believe that this challenge has encouraged me to work on my other challenges - thank you NWEI for everything you do!! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Recycle Everything I CanHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

Chris Kane 4/21/2018 6:37 PMSpent today celebrating Earth Day here in Brevard County, Florida and enjoyed every second of it. I hope all of the participants in this challenge did or will do the same tomorrow. -
Chris Kane 4/16/2018 9:01 PMI've been unusually busy the last week, but I have been giving a lot of thought to my challenge. While I try hard to concentrate on all of the good things in life, I find myself getting sidetracked by a lot of the negative things happening around me. I need to concentrate more on those good things. -
Chris Kane 4/13/2018 4:13 AMLooking forward to another day with the drawdown ecochallenge -
Chris Kane 4/12/2018 4:35 AMThis has nothing really to do with the challenge, but yet again, it has everything to do with it. I'm sitting here listening to the birds singing me a good morning and watching the squirrels going hither and yon starting their day off playing, and I'm thinking it's such a beautiful morning and yet people are going about their morning not even seeing any of it. Everyone is in a rush and no one is really seeing anything. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Fix Leaky FaucetsWhat are other easy and low-cost ways to reduce your water usage at home?
Chris Kane 4/09/2018 6:27 PMWhen my husband isn't home (he doesn't approve of this) i put a bucket in the shower and when i am letting the water run to get it warm, i normally end up with quite a bit in the bucket; i use that water to water my plants; i sometimes put a small container in the sink when i'm letting the water run also-
Beth Beek Blackford 4/10/2018 11:55 AMThose are pretty good solutions! With hurricane season coming up, it's wise to have a 5-gallon bucket of water handy to flush to toilet, too.

Chris Kane 4/08/2018 4:22 AMOne of the things I particularly like about this challenge is the educational component. It encourages participants to educate themselves on particular subjects and it's in short bursts which is easier for me to handle. I love NWEI. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Go PaperlessWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Chris Kane 4/08/2018 4:15 AMFamily time - absolutely. That's the goal for minimalism and I've been working on that for more years than I care to mention. I have found that the more "stuff" I get rid of, the less clutter I have, and the less clutter I have makes me much calmer, which makes for more balance in my life, which eventually leads to a more peaceful me, leading to a happier wife. I am a follower of Kermit in this - it's not easy being green - but we can make it more fun for sure-
Beth Beek Blackford 4/09/2018 3:55 PMWas that a typo? Happier "wife" or "life"? I guess it is the same thing.
