REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Dirk Kestner 4/25/2018 9:02 PMIn knowing that I'm keeping track of anything I'll throw out I've been sure to keep portions modest.

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Support Companies Leading in Green EnergyEvery dollar you put into solar or wind is a dollar not put into traditional financial institutions. You'll also be bolstering the fossil fuel divestment movement, too. What are some companies you know of that invest in green energy, and how can you support them?
Dirk Kestner 4/17/2018 7:47 PMMany news outlets today discussed that all of Apple's offices, stores and datacenters run on clean energy. Now onto looking at the impacts of materials and the energy it takes to make them. Also Patagonia purchases a large % of green power. -
Dirk Kestner 4/10/2018 9:07 PMToday I was thrilled to learn a lot more about a new material - Kebony - which is an alternative to tropical hardwoods like ipe. It comes from FSC wood and is just as durable.
-
Lacy Cagle 4/11/2018 10:06 AMThat's cool! I'll have to look up Kebony. I've never heard of it.

Dirk Kestner 4/10/2018 9:05 PMHabitat :), if only I could always live in the forest. Timber, provided it is sourced sustainably, and clean air and water. Also the intangible benefits recreation and peace. -
