How has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

Having access to public transportation has been a large factor in my not driving as an adult and having only one car instead of two in our household. My sister grew up despising the bus and without it and has multiple vehicles and will not walk anywhere.
being used to the city and getting around without a car is definitely a factor.

What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

We place eating meat as a masculine trait and you are considered weak if you do not eat meat all the time. we place more value on being perceived as strong and unfussy then we do our environment and safety. We need to stop the idea that being vegetarian is a weak and upper class thing to do. It is simply a choice.

  I encounter this mindset frequently with my father. Growing up meat was the center piece of the meal almost 100% of the time, and he's teased me for choosing vegetarian options at restaurants - but he is coming around. For Thanksgiving last year I made barley stuffed bell peppers and got him to taste the stuffing. He jokingly said, "Don't tell me that's vegetarian!" because if it was that means he'd have to admit he liked something vegetarian! Haha.

breakfast and lunch have been very easy to eliminate animal products from for me. I eat fruit or oatmeal in the morning and a PBJ with Miso soup for lunch. Cheaper too.

So I travel 50 miles a day using public transportation. I never realized how much CO@ it saves from our air. I will look at my boat ride and bus rides every day differently
