REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Malcolm Sales 4/24/2018 9:54 AMI think that in North America, we eat more meat than other regions because meat is so readily available at a low price, so it is more financially feasible of an option than in other regions, so consumers choose it more often -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodProducing uneaten food squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these motivates you the most to change your behavior regarding food waste?
Malcolm Sales 4/24/2018 9:38 AMFor me, the reason that makes me want to change my behavior regarding food waste the most is the amount of water used to produce food that goes uneaten. SInce water is a resource that is only becoming more scarce, it is a shame that it would be used on food that isn't eaten -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?
Malcolm Sales 4/24/2018 9:30 AMTo adress my despair about climate change, I try to engage in actions that are environmentally-friendly such as composting, recycling, using public transit, etc. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Malcolm Sales 4/24/2018 9:23 AMWhen walking, riding bicycles, or riding transit, you are more involved in the community you are travelling through than if you were driving -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?
Malcolm Sales 4/24/2018 9:18 AMDuring my next meal prep, I can save the vegetable scraps for later, then cook them into a stock that can be used for cooking -

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportHow has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Malcolm Sales 4/12/2018 9:29 AMBeing from a major city, I grew up with easy access to public transport, so I've always been open to using public transportation such as bus, tram, and metro. I always try to use public transportation when it is available, as it is generally much easier and environmentally friendlier than the alternative.
