What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

The commercialization of food and a fast food culture contribute to people in NA eating more meant than other developed countries. I think it shows that NA values are quiet often linked to commercialization. A good way to start shifting away from a meat focused culture is for communities to embrace and make it easier for small markets and farmer's markets to operate in the communities. Also, providing incentives to those living in the community would help aid in the shift. For example, some time ago, Lake Oswego provided residents with free compost bins to encourage decrease in waste and increase in growing gardens at home.
