It was a lot of fun and educational. I was encouraged to learn more about composting and biochar. I built a large wooden composter for my backyard and compost just about everything now including coffee, tea, eggshells. Also, I learned what goes into biochar and the challenges of getting small farmers in places like the Amazon to accept it. But it is gaining. My son has friends who are making biochar right in New Jerey.

My use of a gasoline powered car impacts many areas both where the raw materials are sourced and where the oil is drilled in Nigeria, the Middle East and parts of the US.

    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

Waking up to the cost of consuming meat is difficult - a challenge to many of our beliefs about "good" nutrition.  I'm finding it a challenge to sustain 3 vegetarian meals a day, but I've been more conscious and willing to prepare at least 2 meals a day without meat.  Growing awareness and being willing to choose are essential to change.

Providing strong, safe educational opportunities for girls in developing nations - and here at home - helps young women gain the "grit" and intellectual independence to demand and work toward a better, more sustainable life for their families, communities and nations.

Microgrids can be built using a variety of sustainable energy sources, managed by, and maintained by local communities -- and they can become economically self-sufficient by engaging and enrolling all community members in ownership.

Among the factors which impact my choice of transportation are convenience, cost, impact on the environment, and safety, not ncessarily in that order.

Already use composting and recycling and recycled materials.  Today bought a community compost bin!

This is the compost box I built. It has a removable top to deter larger animals. I added leaves, grass, eggshells, coffee and tea, and many vegetable scraps to get started. I will plant some flowers and herbs in the pots around it just to jazz it up a little! Sarah and I are very happy to eliminate unnecessary waste.
