Well, it was fun and instructive in many ways!

    Transport Advocate For Greener Vehicles
How does advocating for green vehicles in your community connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to fuel-efficient vehicles?

Greener vehicles is a stretch for people.

I picked the daily challenge to only buy FSC certified paper.  Not once during the challenge did I buy any paper.  Oh well...

I finally researched the refrigerant recycling challenge.  There is a program put on by Centerpoint where they will pick up your appliance through ARCA, and pay you $25.  (Free lunch?) it’s for Centerpoint customers and it’s only one time, and the unit has to be working.  Otherwise, the “Refrigernator” looks to be a residential pick up operation that charges a flat rate of $40 to pick up ten or less items with refrigerants.  The rest seem to be oriented to commercial operations and large quantities, but I didn’t call any of them to p,ay 20 questions.

How do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?

How do I address my concern about climate change?  I help out with climate change groups.  I find it comforting to be around like-minded individuals and talk about it.  And that is how we make change - first we have to talk about it.

Zero waste effort at Earth Day HOUSTON: 70% diversion.  We recorded quite a bit of data, but I wish I had more clarity on the weight of the landfill material. I think we had a few unattended containers that became all trash and tipped the balance.  It is very important to help people make the right disposal decision.

Earth Day Zero Waste debut at Discovery Green.  Stats later.  Massive education to Recycling Ambassadors, which worked very well.  Food waste diverted as well as recycling with virtually no contamination.  Wow!

I chatted with a colleague at an event at her table about the extensive array of cheesy plastic giveaway items.  She looked guilty because she knows better, but she is doing her job, which is sitting at a table and handing out giveaways as a way to gain attention for her cause.  The old dog that needs to learn a new trick is the institution.  Not to mention the public that looks for and readily accepts anything free .  Anything.  It’s pathetic, really.  People!  Just stop taking them!  They’ll get the message and quit buying them!
