I learned much from the research around each challenge area. I especially appreciate the creative that went into the site – very engaging for the reader to want to learn more/read more. The functionality of the site, allowing you to piggy-back from one challenge to another kept me reading/learning. I did make the donations I listed, but unfortunately forgot to record them here – and was mindful of the daily challenges I enlisted, but again, didn't record them daily (sorry, we lost points for this, Em). Wonderful experience – thank you. Keep me on the list for the next challenge!

YOU DO NOT NEED TO SHOWER EVERY DAY AND YOU DO NOT NEED SO MUCH WATER TO FLUSH A TOILET OR DO THE DISHES. Use less of it.

It's a disgrace that the US does not have a high speed rail system when the technology is so well established and has  been is use for so long around the world. Trains in New Jersey are outrageously expensive- over $30 to go round trip from Princeton Jct to NYC for a trip that takes an hour each way. Mass transit and high speed rail should be strongly supported to get people out of their cars and reduce carbon emissions. On any given day you hear traffic reports of delays of an hour or more to cross bridges or tunnels into NYC from NJ. Thousands of cars sitting and spewing exhaust.

I completely agree and often have dreamed about putting that high speed rail in the center of the NJ Turnpike:  Someday I hope.

What did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?

Southern NJ sucks for public transportation, and this country (in general) is trash when it comes to efficient, accessible, and punctual public transportation (here's to you Europe and Japan). Most people drive multi-passenger vehicles to and from work, which causes traffic adding to the noxious fume issue...

    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

Reuse plastic materials, refuse known environmentally damaging products, repair deforested areas, reduce carbon footprint, re-purpose material items I no longer use.

Land Use Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

SAVE ALL THE LAND!! Too many people on this rock... It's overwhelming to consider the true scope of societies impacts and then ponder any solutions (since we manufacture things to be in final form, thus cannot be recycled). Feeling hopeful as more people learn about small daily impacts that add up!

    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?
