I think that meat companies propagate very well to the American public by linking their products to a healthy life-style. Also, it is hard for Americans to avoid eating meat when meat has an unconditional connection to American values and culture. American eating habits are driven by desire rather than by health, and that is something that needs to change for the better of our fellow American. I think the best way to shift a meat-dependent society to a nutritious food culture is by using media as a mechanism that will illustrate the advantages of living a healthy life style, while also highlighting the disadvantages of being unhealthy. I will also like to recommend that there must be professionals such as doctors or members of public health that will be willing to support such movement. People don't like being told what to do, but if you can offer a product, a service or a life-style without forcing it, there will be a more positive change, because people like to feel that they have choices.
